Orbiter bridge fees
For Orbiter Finance's documented sender-to-maker bridge, the total cost combines the sender's source-network gas with the maker's withholding fee and percentage trading fee. The applicable fee terms depend on the asset and network pair. A confirmed source payment establishes the outgoing transfer; the destination payment is needed to reconcile delivery and the final cost.
What Does Each Fee Cover?
- Source-Network Gas
- The sender pays the source network to process the outgoing transaction. The wallet's estimate is separate from the maker's fees; the confirmed source transaction supplies the actual gas charge.
- Withholding Fee
- A one-time maker charge intended to cover gas for the transfer on the destination network. Its amount can vary with the destination network and applicable fee terms.
- Trading Fee
- A percentage charge on the transaction amount under the configured payout calculation. The Event Binding Contract (EBC) records the maker's fee parameters and defines the precise receiving-amount calculation.
Orbiter Finance's Bridge Protocol describes fee adjustments in response to destination-network gas conditions. A percentage quoted for another token or route does not establish the cost of this transfer, and the percentage alone leaves out the withholding fee and source gas.
Which Costs Use the Same Currency?
For transfers from Ethereum mainnet described in the maker model, source gas is paid in ETH. The documented ETH and USDC bridge calculations express maker charges in the respective transferred asset. The selected live route still determines availability, fees and limits.
| Transferred Asset | Source Gas Currency | Maker Fee Units |
|---|---|---|
| ETH | ETH | ETH, using the route's withholding fee and trading rate |
| USDC | ETH | USDC, using the route's withholding fee and trading rate |
A USDC receiving amount therefore does not account for the ETH spent on source gas. Those quantities need separate accounting unless they are converted to a common valuation.
What Needs Checking Before Submission?
The selected token, source network, destination network and permitted transfer range define the request. Review its withholding fee, trading rate and receiving amount alongside the wallet's source-gas estimate. The source wallet needs enough native gas currency for the outgoing transaction in addition to the asset being transferred.
In the documented externally owned account (EOA) method, the sender pays the maker's address on the source network. Orbiter Finance uses the final four digits of the transfer amount as a destination Identification Code. Preserve the prepared amount: changing it can invalidate the intended bridge transaction.
What Does an In-Progress Transfer Establish?
A pending source transaction does not establish a completed payment to the maker or a final source-gas cost. Once the source transaction is confirmed as successful, its record establishes the outgoing payment and gas charged on that network. The maker still has a separate obligation to send the receiving asset on the destination network.
A confirmed destination payment with the intended receiving address, network, asset and amount establishes the payout. The destination record can show gas for the maker's transfer, but that is the maker's transaction expense. The withholding fee is intended to cover that cost; the explorer's gas figure is not another gas payment from the sender's wallet.
How Is the Completed Cost Reconciled?
The original quote, confirmed source payment and matching destination payment answer different accounting questions. Compare the actual destination receipt with the quoted receiving amount, then account for the sender's actual source gas separately. Where the quote already incorporates maker deductions, subtracting the listed maker fees again would count them twice.
Use the exact source transfer amount, including its Identification Code, when reconciling the source balance. Keep the destination asset's units with its received amount and distinguish the final source-gas charge from the earlier estimate.
A confirmed source payment without a matching destination payout leaves delivery unresolved. The entire outgoing amount cannot be classified as a fee merely because the payout is missing. Orbiter Finance's FAQ directs users to search transaction History before requesting support and to include the source network, destination network, transaction hash and wallet address. Resolve that transaction's status before treating another bridge payment as a replacement.
